Howarth of London
T W Howarth & Co. are one of the main specialist woodwind makers and retailers in the UK - several of the main London orchestras have solely Howarth-playing oboe sections. There are other useful links on the links page e.g. to websites with fingering charts.

British Double Reed Society
The British Double Reed Society host or support a number of Doublereed days round the UK. The society publish a very useful quarterly magazine - articles are available on the website.

The International Double Reed Society
A professional society, covering the oboe and bassoon, with an international membership - part of the site is accessible only to members. There is probably not a great deal to interest beginners, but the extensive Journal contents on-line, with a search facility, may be useful to more advanced players (see selected links to a few of these above).

Recorder Home Page
An extensive collection of links covering the background, history and repertoire of the instrument. There is also advice on technique and links to a large collection of MIDI files, including early and renaissance music.

Dolmetsch Homepage
The Dolmetsch family are probably amongst the most famous musical instrument makers in the UK, best known for their recorders but also for their early keyboard and stringed instruments. Their impressive site includes a fingering chart for beginners, how to care for recorders, details of the recorder-making process, a catalogue, details of events such as the Summer School and a good listing of other sites.

The Society of Recorder Players
Contact details are available for the Society and its 50 branches throughout the UK and Ireland, along with links to branches' own web pages, where available, with more detailed information about meetings and activities. The website also has information about The Recorder Magazine; national festivals organised by the society throughout the UK; competitions; and the Society's qualification for teachers and conductors.
